Melanie Hill, Dental Assistant Just to let you know a little about myself, I graduated from Allen High School in 1979, married Frank Hill in 1980, and we welcomed our daughter, Breanna, in 1988. I first began working for Dr. Edwards and the Ada Smile Place in 1987 as the receptionist. However, I was never limited to the front office. I was encouraged to expand my knowledge of dentistry and I completed several certification courses through the Oklahoma Board of Dentistry. I received my licenses in radiology, coronal polishing, sealant application, and the use of nitrous oxide. Due to this extensive cross training, I was better able to help provide excellent service for our patients from the beginning. After 11 years at the front desk, I was given the opportunity to become a chair side assistant and I was well prepared and eager to jump right in. I have always been artistic and have taken numerous classes in art. Because we provide a variety of cosmetic options for our patients, I feel my artistic ability is beneficial as I assist our patients in not only feeling their best but also looking their best. I am excited by the trend dentistry is taking. Now people are encouraged to maintain better oral health because the link between it and their physical health has been proven to be extremely important. It is a great feeling to see someone transformed by the services we provide, everything from restoring a mouth to a more healthy state for one patient, to helping another have a brighter and whiter smile, to simply easing another patient’s fear of dentistry. I feel each patient we see is a unique individual that deserves to be treated as such and each one will get my undivided attention. I enjoy the work I do and I hope to be doing it for a very long time.
